There are many reasons to why I want to be child therapist. I love working with children and I also like listening to people’s problems and helping them by giving them advice. My aunt inspired me to want to become this because she’s a social worker and she loves her job. She tells me stories about the children she works with and most of the time their stories are really fascinating. You can just see that the people she talks to and helps, it actually does make an impact on their life. I want to be able to help people out and I think this is the right job for that.

An office for a social worker is usually child friendly so the children can feel comfortable and be able to talk to you. In my design, I created the setting for how I want my office to be in the future. I want the kids to be able to enjoy themselves while they’re there and have something to do while I speak to their parents. The two toys that I have set aside to the right, such as the ball pit, is for the children to play in. The file cabinet and the papers on my desk, along with the computer, is where I will store all of their information and record the data to their issues.

Social Justice: Freedom of the Right to Bear Arms: Gun Violence

Screen Shot 2015-12-14 at 9.37.13 AM.png

Freedom of the Right to Bear Arms is the second U.S amendment in which anyone has the right to owning a gun. However, many people take advantage in owning a gun and use it for the wrong purposes. Although many civilians are apart of this, the police also abuse their privilege of having gun and sometimes go around killing innocent people. Gun violence wasn’t a big issue until December 2012 when the Sandy Hook Incident occurred leaving twenty-six elementary children dead. One thing that may lead to gun violence is that there is little to no gun training and how easy it is to purchase a gun.

The issue on gun violence should be taken very seriously because it’s leaving many innocent people dead. Some things that can be changed to prevent this violence is to have gun training and licensing and also to have stricter laws for purchasing or obtaining a gun. There should be a law where you have to have a license in order to purchase a gun, including a background check. Some states in the U.S, such as North Carolina, Nevada and Pennsylvania, have gun shows and anyone can go and get a hold of one. According to, it shows that the states that have stricter gun laws have less violence than those that have easy access. This comes to show that stricter gun laws will make a positive impact on the second amendment.

The visual metaphor above shows someone holding a gun and a bullet shooting out of it. On the bullet it has a person because it comes to show that every time a bullet is shot at someone, a persons life is wasted. Under the gun, there’s a box with more bullets and more terrified people. The words on the box show that without gun laws, people’s lives are being wasted. The elements that are being showed in this visual metaphor are unity, emphasis and variety. Unity is shown because the United States flag represents the second amendment and that it should be stricter on their gun laws because citizens of the U.S. are losing their lives. Emphasis is also shown by the gun shooting a bullet with the innocent person on it. The last element is variety  because of how many people are on the bullets which represents how many lives are lost each time.
